Between 1976 and 1983 Argentina was under the rule of a military government that implemented a systematic plan for the abduction of babies, girls and boys, who were separated from their disappeared parents. Their identity was falsified or they were given up for adoption, all traces of their biological families being removed. Since then, the Grandmothers of Plaza de Mayo and their families have benn looking for them and, ever since the restoration of democracy, the Argentine State has also been engaged in this task through different institutions. To date, 130 granddaughters and grandsons have recovered their identity, their history and their biological ties. About 350 are still missing and they might be anywhere in the world. The Argentine State is looking for them for the restitution of their identity. You could be one of them.
